Nov 25-29

Math:
  • We learned how to calculate theoretical probability for two independent events
  • We learned how to map the sample space of a probability experiment using tables and tree diagrams.
  • Students worked on textbook questions pp 169-170.
    • easier? do #'s 5, 6, 8, and 13
    • challenging? do #'s 4, 6, 9, 11, and 14
  • We re-visited the ice cream Math talk from last week to see if we could refine our explanations now that we have practiced mapping the sample space

Science:
  • Bean observation update - more beans are germinating than the last time we tried this experiment. We noticed that the beans that are near the bottom of the window are growing more than the ones closer to the top. We added thermometers to the experiment to see if there is a difference between these two spots.
  • Carbon cycle diagram was due this week, including an explanation of why this is important.
  • What is an ecological footprint? Watch these videos to find out:
  • Students calculated their ecological footprint - ask your student how many Earth's they need to live.
Upcomming:
  • December 20 - Non-Instructional, no classes
  • Winter Break: December 23 - January 8
  • Want a yearbook? Order forms were given to students who are interested. The cost is $20. Orders are due December 20th.
