Jan 13-17

Math
- surveying the class for activities they did over the holidays, we practiced how to express these amounts as fractions, decimals, percents, and ratios.
- students created a foldable to help them remember how to change numbers between fractions, decimals and percents.

Science
- we started our unit on Planet Earth this week.
- we surveyed the textbook to discover which topics will be investigated in this unit.
- To learn about the Earth's layers, we read the introduction of the book "Dancing Elephants and Floating Continents". Ask your student what a Canadian Elephant is.
- We watched a video about the Earth's layers.
- Using the textbook, students constructed a diagram of the layers of the Earth - Due on Tuesday. Look for this assignment in Powerschool next week.

On Friday, students were regrouped into small instructional groups called RTI, to target the skills outlined below. Ask your student about this amazing learning opportunity.
